Concert Reviews- Escape from Wiscanson Tour feat T-pain with Tobi lou.

Escape from Wiscanson tour feat T-Pain with Tobi Lou.

This was a special show for me. Anyone who knows me knows two things: I love concerts and taking pictures. This particular night, it was me vs. me, professional vs fan.

I received the incredible opportunity to shoot this concert. My first concert shoot! if I do say so myself, I went in. I loved every moment, capturing the energy of the night.

Now, the reason I said it was me vs me. I was fine until T-pain got on stage. Tobi Lou and the openers Young Cash and NandoSTL, from the Nappy Boy label, did great. Although I was more in my professional bag during these sets, when Pain came out, he started on ten. He was so energetic and fun. Of course, I knew every song.

I was fighting with fan-me. I had to focus on getting the shots and not singing my heart out. I transported to my late high school and early college days. All I wanted to do was bust a move there in the pit.

T-pain ran the radio back then, he had songs on top of songs, and everyone had him on a joint, whether he had a verse or just on the hook, and did he perform all those songs? He sure did! Song after song, the crowd's energy meter grew. This was an intimate concert, but Pain had The Fillmore feeling like an arena show. as if the sold-out space was much bigger than what it was.

We were feeding off the energy he gave on stage, and I loved every second of it. He was so (a word we use to say back in the day) hyphy.

My favorite thing I loved from his set was the mixes. He was singing his lyrics but had different instrumentals mixed, such as Soulja Boy's "She Got a Dunk" with "Booty Work," or his and Chris Brown's kiss kiss with Lil Uzi Vert's "Just wanna rock." It added an extra pizazz that the crowd didn’t know we needed. I was there for the T-Mix, which I was singing with my whole heart.

T-mix is when he remixes a song for fun and usually posts it on his social media. The track he T-mixed was "People" by Libianca, and though I like her version of the song, I wish this was a real collaboration so I could download it because it is fire.

Everyone knows T-pain signature thing is autotuning. What everyone may not know is behind that autotune is that he has a pretty amazing voice. He showcased his real chops singing songs from his new cover album “On Top of the Covers” with songs like Sam Smith's "Stay with Me" and Journey's "Don’t stop believing," among other great hits.

The only thing I would have loved more if he included some of his newer joints from his album "1up." I felt he was doing a disservice by not doing any songs from that album.

All in all, professional vs. fan, both experiences were everything. I couldn’t have asked for a better night.
